For example if you have a travel company and you're creating a travel themed Instagram account think of the types of people that buy travel.

Think of the specific genre of travel you service maybe you do Adventure travel.

Think of Who Spends Money on Your Products

For example if  adventure travel is your market, think of the people that buy Adventure travel then list info about them:

  • Girls and boys between the ages of 18 and 35.
  • These people like to go on adventures with their friends.
  • They like to spend money on equipment for adventure.
  • Maybe they like to buy mountain climbing gear or snowboards.
  • They typically have a fixed income between 20 and fifty thousand a year.
  • They enjoy spending their free money on trips and vacations.

What Interests Your Demographic?

"According to a study by Google, 40% of millennial YouTube subscribers say that their favorite content creators understand them better than their friends"

- Think With Google

Now that you have your persona think of things that they would be interested in relating to Adventure travel. They probably are interested in action shots tips and tricks for cheaper travel and maybe stories of faraway places.

Each time you post a picture to your Instagram account you need to Envision the demographic that you're selling to envision one of these travelers and decide if your picture is going to interest them.

Think About Users Impressions

Example:

Two things are going to get people engaged in your Instagram account:

1. Their first impression

  1. Their lasting impression.

Below we are going to cover how to make a good first impression and a great lasting impression.

How to Increase Instagram User Engagment (Video)

Instagram First Impression

Their first impression depends on your profile picture, your bio, your link, and the general feel of your page. In order to create a dynamic Instagram account, your profile picture needs to reflect the topic you photograph.

For example, if you are a surfer I would recommend having a surfboard in your profile picture (a surfboard silhouetted in the Sun or something like that).

How to Create an Instagram Bio

Your bio is extremely important because it lets people know who you are and what your interests or purposes are.

Your bio should include where you live, what sorts of things you specifically take pictures of, and something creative about yourself.

This should be something simple yet intriguing that shows people a little bit about your personality and why you take pictures.

Instagram Picture Consistancy

The last thing that's important to consider when making a good first impression on Instagram is the overall feel of your photos.

Apps like “Un Um" can help you test what your pictures will look like when they are all put together- a great tool to use to determine the general feeling of your photos.

It's important that all your photos have a similar feel, style and sometimes even filter to keep consistency across your account.

Consistency is key and people will keep coming back to you if they know what to expect and if you always add value to your posts.

"Influence will lead marketing efforts by 2020. It's the most effective form of advertising there is, and coupled with a solid content strategy, no TV or Facebook ad can even compare."

- Ted Coine

Instagram Lasting Impression

Your Lasting Impression depends on a few different things.

  1. First you need to consistently be posting high-quality content.
  2. Second, every picture you post, think about how the picture could be adding value to the lives of your followers.

Tips for Adding Value (Video)

Even if all of your pictures and posts are about a plumbing company, consider adding some tips that people can use to make sure their plumbing is up-to-date. Insert this added value in either the picture or the picture’s caption.

Wherever you put it, it is essential that every post is valuable to your customers in some way so they'll continue to be interested in future posts.

How to Create a Great Instagram Caption

Instagram Caption Guidelines:

The next order of business to focus on is your photo captions.

Captions should be different and unique but typically they follow some standard guidelines:

Tips for Creating Captions (Video)

Interesting Story Caption

You should have a few captions a week that are light-hearted and interesting stories or facts about when the picture was taken.

EXAMPLE: Say, you're taking a picture of a wedding on a cliff. Consider adding interesting facts about how hard it was to take the shot or what the little kid in the background was doing, ect.

Stories like this will keep your followers coming back and change generic pictures into a story with a meaning.

Personal Story Caption

Once a week you should consider posting something personal from your own life like a family picture or an important event, etc.

Feel free to add in the caption of this photo a personal story or something that helps people get to know you better as a person.

These personal moments will help people build a personal connection to you and develop a digital “relationship" with you.

Short & Simple Caption

Once a week feel free to mix up your captions by adding a short two to three word caption with some emojis.

Usually something pointing out the obvious in a photo: location, country setting ect.

This will add a splash of color and a little bit of diversity in your photo captions.

Call to Action Caption

Once a week make sure you advertise your stuff.

Post a call-to-action in the form of a picture of a product you offer or something, and challenge your followers to try it out.

Do this only after showing a lot of great photos and content that don't mention products. This will ensure you are offering real value and not just trying to sell them stuff the whole time.

Choose Your Instagram Photo Theme

When creating an Instagram account it is important to choose three to five things in particular you'll be posting it about. You can determine this by looking at what your key selling proposition is, or what your company does.

After you've done this, choose 5 relating things to post about. If you are doing a lifestyle Instagram account choose pictures of hiking pictures, surfing, your family, pictures of the ocean etc. Once you have your three to five types of posts picked out, stick to those types of posts.

PRO TIP: Consistency is key on Instagram. People love consistency on Instagram because they know that they will only receive what they signed up for. If they love your account and sign up for it, they don't want you to post too many different types of things.

Instagram Insights (Analytics)

An important trick for Instagram is to use your analytics to determine the best day to post your best picture. Typically, you want to post about once a day, in some industries or for faster growth people can post up to 3 times a day.

You can change your account into a business account and see specific analytics about which days are the most successful. Once you determine that most of your followers or users are using it on a specific day, you can schedule your posts accordingly.

How to Use Instagram Insights (Video)

Posts on Instagram at Peak Times

If you find your users are most engaged and active on Mondays at 2:00pm, you would therefore schedule your posts at that time.

In addition to scheduling your post at peak times you should post your most interesting posts at the most active time.

Not only will this method give you the best chance that your followers will see your post and react well, it will also give you the highest opportunity of your posts going viral.

The Best Time To Post On Social Media (Video)

Once a Week Plug in Your Call To Action

Once a week you typically want to add into your photo caption, something directly concerning your business such as a call to action or a product you offer.

Combining and incorporating both ideas - (posting your call to action on the day that most of your followers view your posts) -  is the best way to optimize your product visibility and therefore sales.

Using Instagram Hashtags

When using hashtags there are definitely some do's and don'ts on Instagram.

Optimizing Instagram Hashtags

The first thing to know is that Instagram will let you use a maximum of 30 hashtags per post. Hashtags help you on different pages and they're like choosing relating terms to your pictures.

For optimal Instagram success it is a great idea to use all 30 of your available hashtags per picture post.

To get ideas of relevant popular hashtags in your industry, give it a quick Google, there are millions of sites with great lists.

How to Use Instagram Hashtags Without Looking Spammy

Posting hashtags in a photo description can make your posts looks spammy and cluttered but there is a trick. After you post a picture and the caption go to the first comment and post a list of 30 hashtags.

This will ensure that your picture has a clean look to it and the hashtags are only visible if someone clicks on the comment section.

How to Find Your Hashtags

It is important to know that some of the most popular hashtag like #Beach, #tree, #house Etc. are too generic to use. These hashtags have millions of people posting on them and subsequently your chances of getting noticed from posting to these pages is very low.

Instead consider posting with hashtags that have 100,000 to 500,000 pictures posted per page.

To see this, start typing a hashtag and Instagram will suggest the hashtag and show the number of how many pictures are posted under the hashtag.

Create Your Own Personal #Hashtag

Another winning strategy is to start your own hashtag. Usually I suggest that users use the name of their account to help others find that account again later if they want, but this isn’t the best in all cases.

Following Photo Trends

When posting Instagram pictures, a great way to get exposure and increase likelihood of having  a viral picture is to follow trends. Although following trends may just make you look like everyone else that’s following that trend, doin it right can bring great success.

Look at the types of things that are trending and the pictures people are interested in and do your own unique version or spin off of this picture. This will help you stand out from the crowd while still gaining momentum from a trend people are interested in.

Remember to Reply to Instagram DM’s & Comments

An important part of building your Instagram presence is to properly take care of your direct messages and comments.

Set aside time or pay a social media marketer to respond to your direct messages and comments on pictures.

Instagram Stories

Instagram stories are often perceived as the wild west. People have free rein and they post whenever and whatever on them.

If you are trying to create a professional business Instagram account you should not view Instagram stories in this light. Instead you should use Instagram stories to tell a story or promote a product just as you would your regular Instagram feed.

Instagram Surveys

Instagram stories has many new and interesting features, recently the surveys was added to Instagram stories which is just another layer of Getting follower engagement use this as you see necessary.

Remember to Sell

Is important to remember that with an Instagram account if you wish to be profitable you must sell something. Whether that be an ebook or a product make sure at least once a week you are advertising what you sell.

You don't need to come across like a Salesman always promoting your product but if you naturally bring it up or tell people about it they will be interested.

Tell people about new projects you're working on and how excited you are to launch things and they will be interested because you've built a relationship with them.

Collaboration and Tags

One of the most popular ways to promote an Instagram page is collaboration. Collaborating with other people in your area brings new audiences and powerful ways of getting your pictures in front of a large group of people.

1. Typically to collaborate, people go on Instagram and find others that post similar things to you- ideally you would find people that are located geographically close to you.

2. You reach out to those people through instant direct messages and ask if they would like to collaborate.

3. Try to fix a time to meet up with them and take pictures with them so you can both post photos with eachother tagged.

Doing this allows you each to tap into each other's audiences.

How to Collaborate With Brands on Instagram (Video)

Instagram Tags

Another great Instagram tip to get more views on your photos it to tag famous Instagram accounts in your picture. This will typically only work if you are taking pictures that are similar to the accounts you take them in. For example, if you're posting a picture of a beautiful mountain consider tagging Earth Focus in the picture.

When other Instagram accounts are tagged in your picture (not just in the comments but in the actual picture) it posts your picture on their feed in the “tag" section. When their fans are looking at their feed and click on pictures they are tagged in, there's a high likelihood that they will see your picture and perhaps- if they recognize it's from a different account- follow you.

Funnelling External Traffic

REMEMBER: As always with Instagram, consistency is the key. The more consistent you are, the more people know what they're getting and the less likely they are to unfollow you.

A great way to promote yourself outside of the Instagram sphere is through Facebook groups. Being an active member and Facebook groups and actively posting, sharing your pictures, and linking back to your Instagram account is a great way to build awareness. People that visit the Facebook group often will see your pictures and if they like them will go back and follow you on Instagram.

3 Books I'd Recommend Reading on Instagram Marketing

Section 2: Social media marketing

Facebook Marketing

Facebook has long been one of the most powerful social media platforms due to its huge user base and hyper targeted ads.

The secret to growing a great Facebook page and using it to promote your product is to add value to your followers lifes.

Below we are going to walk you through setting up your Facebook account (the right way) and using it to market your stuff.

Setting Up Your Facebook Page

The first thing you need to think about when planning your Facebook marketing is how to set up your page. If you already have a page and are familiar with these steps, feel free to skip over to the next section , marketing.

If you wish to have some more tips on how to optimize your page, continue reading.

How to Choose a Facebook Page Name (Video)

Facebook Page Naming Strategies

A few different strategies I've seen work very well are to name your page after a cause a club or just your business.

Cause Oriented

“Save Our Oceans", a popular Facebook page, seems like it is a cause to save the ocean. In reality the page sells trinkets and products relating to the ocean.

By naming it “Save Our Oceans" I imagine they gather many likes by Facebook enthusiasts wanting to do social good- likes they may had lost out on by choosing a different name.

I Love... or Club Name

Another strategy is to name your Facebook page after a club.

For example, if I sold rock climbing gear, I would name my Facebook group “I love rock climbing", or if I were selling a course on how to set up a business I would name it “I love businesses".

This is yet another powerful way to make a Facebook page as it allows your users to relate to something they love more than just liking your unknown brand.

Your Brand Name

Your last option is to name your page after your specific brand.

If you already have a website-let's say it's “Fancy Footwork Marketers"- you could name your Facebook page “Fancy Footwork Marketers". Simple.

How to Choose a Brand Name (Video)

Create a Facebook Group

Another option you could try is to have your page as a group. Facebook groups allow you to add users whether they asked to be added or not. This can be both beneficial and detrimental. It's particularly powerful if you have an “I Love fill-in-the-blank" Facebook page.

For example if I had an I Love Rock Climbing Facebook page, I could tell all the users and people that have joined the community group to add their friends to the group- especially their friends that love rock climbing. A success story of this is a local Hawaiian FB group page that received over 5,000 group members in two days because community members added their friends. So like I said, this could be powerful.

Create a Facebook Username

Once you've chosen the name of your page on Facebook choose your username. Your username is the name that people will use when they tag your page in a post.

Usually in order to tag someone, you type the @ symbol followed by the Facebook page name. Typically you want your username to be the same as your Facebook page.

Sometimes, however, this is not possible such as if another page has already taken that username. In these situations, just choose something similar.

Create a Page Logo & Header

In order to optimize your page you need to create a custom logo for your Facebook page. One great tool for creating logos is canva.com. It's free and easy-to-use so I highly recommend fiddling with it.

Once you have created your custom logo give some thought and attention to your Facebook header. This is the first thing people see so doing something other than a generalized stock image will pay off in the end. If you want to go the extra mile,  It’s highly recommend turning this header into a video.

It's easy to find free videos from stock video websites online and free video editors to add some moving Graphics. A video will engage your audience, show that you are hi-tech, and create a visually stimulating experience that's sure to get you new fans.

Creating Facebook Content

The content you post on your Facebook page is very important and should be given a lot of time and attention. Just because you have to think wisely about it, however, doesn't mean you have to spend a ton of time constantly working on it.

Auto Pilot Facebook Posts

A lot of content creation can be automated and set on autopilot so that your Facebook page makes the sales while you do something else.

The first thing to know when thinking about your Facebook content creation is knowing what kind of content can be used. Articles, photos, quotes, tips, info, products, and links are all great things to post on a Facebook page.

How to Find Content for Facebook (Video)

Posting Tips and Articles

One great strategy I have seen work in the past is to post pictures and tips together. Oftentimes you can get these tips straight from a Google search under your niches category.

For example, if I had a baseball bat company, I could search for best tips for swinging a baseball bat, find an article and post it along with a picture of a baseball bat.

For awesome, free, and copyright-free pictures that you could use for posts like this, check out: Unsplash.com

Tag The Original Author

Another great trick when posting your tips with a picture is to tag the original author of the article who wrote the tip.

By tagging the author in your post, sometimes you can get a re-share to their big audience. Just make sure your post is flattering to them if you wish to do this; Say something like “Just read a great article by so-and-so- here's a great tip they shared".

Videos Posting Tips

Another important thing to know about content creation is in regards to videos. When posting a video on Facebook make sure you upload a video directly to the site instead of using YouTube. Facebook's algorithm greatly benefits videos directly posted instead of going through a third-party site such as YouTube.

You can think of Facebook as a very jealous woman who only wants her products and services used. It makes sense, but is still unfortunate when great YouTube content gets penalized by Facebook.

How to Post Videos on Facebook (Video)

PRO-TIP: Facebook promotes videos more than text or links, so while leveraging this you can make a lot of money.

Sharing Links on Facebook

In regards to sharing links there is some do's and don'ts and some strategies on doing it successfully. Facebook typically penalizes links because, again, it is a third-party service and taking people away from Facebook.

Share Links in First Comment

When you wish to share links to your website or service, put it in the first comment on your post. This will ensure that Facebook doesn't penalize the post for having a link as the main content section. This way, Facebook still views your post on your Facebook page as very important and give it plenty of air time and attention.

Another great way to sell using Facebook is to just post pictures of your Products on your Facebook page and then, again, put a link to your product as the first comment.

How to Share Links on Facebook (Video)

Ask Questions in Posts

Make sure to post questions as your products description, such as “Would you ever want this product?" or “If you could have this product, what color would you have it in?"

Asking questions is great way to engage users in your posts and will ensure they're shown to many people.

Marketing Your Facebook Page

Once you’ve setup your Facebook page and created content, the second step is learning how to Market it effectively.

Facebook's Engagement Algorithm

Facebook takes a lot of factors into consideration when looking at promoting your Facebook page posts. Roughly 100,000 algorithms and factors are looked at before Facebook will share your post with your friends or followers.

One of the biggest things Facebook looks at is the last time your followers interacted with your page. With Facebook, engagement is essential and keeping your followers constantly engaged is the key.

"Engagement is the new impressions. It matters as much, if not more than someone's reach alone."

- Kristy Sammis

Understanding Facebook’s Tests

Typically, Facebook will take your post once it's created and show it to a select group of 11 to 14 users who have previously liked you.

How those users interact with your post will determine how Facebook continues to promote you.

If that test group is positive and likes, shares, and comments on your post, you have a higher chance of Facebook pushing the post out to more people.

If the second group reacts positively, chances are Facebook will treat your post as viral content and your visibility continues to grow with every share.

Interaction is Crucial

One of the secrets to having Facebook show your post to all of your community members or likers of your page is to have your people interact often with your posts. Some ways to do this are through giveaways, birthday wishes, questions etc.

All of these methods require interaction with your users. Those who interact will be noticed by Facebook and will be marked down for them to see more of your future posts.

Tips for More Interaction on Facebook (Video)

Join Active Facebook Groups

Another strategy for promoting your Facebook page is to join Facebook groups. The secret is not to just join any groups but to search for those with HIGH Community interaction:

These are groups where the community members are posting constantly and talking about the community members’ content.

These are great places for you to share your products, links to your articles and pictures. As always, remember to give as much as you take when it comes to Facebook groups: share valuable insights and comment on other people's projects so people will view you as a useful service or valuable contributor in the future.

How to do Facebook Live

Facebook live is one of Facebook's hottest trending marketing methods. The first ever Facebook TV commercials have actually been created to promote Facebook live.

This means Facebook is dedicating a lot of resources and money into it, and if you take advantage of it, they will promote you.

Facebook Live Auction

Essentially the idea of Facebook Live is for you to live stream things you were doing in real time. Some great business applications I have seen are as follows.

One company used Facebook live to auction off products-particularly quilted blankets. The company that did this ended up selling well over 200 quilted blankets, and many of them sold for $500 or more.

Facebook Live Auction Tool (Video)

Facebook Live Events

One great example of a successful live event was a company that Facebook live streamed a concert.

Statistics show that users are twice as likely to purchase a ticket to a concert show or event after having seen a Facebook live video or other recording of a similar event.

Facebook Live Tips (Video)

Facebook Live Online Courses

With Facebook live you can stream many different things including computer courses or other things on your computer by using third-party apps.

You can also invite people off of your phone to watch your live stream. This is a great way to get more interaction with your services.

Using a Facebook Page to Interact

One great technique for marketing your Facebook page is to like other pages with your newly created page.

You can switch to “Facebook page feed" and everything you do on Facebook will be done in the name of your Facebook page.

This is particularly powerful if you are a member of many communities and you want to leave comments in the name of your Facebook page.

You can leave comments and post pictures and everything will be linked directly back to your Facebook page. This can be a great way to build brand awareness.

Facebook Ad Tip

One tip when it comes to paid Facebook promotions is that, after your ad is finished running, you should go and look at who liked the ad.

Once you see the people that liked the ad, there is an invite button you can press that will invite those users to like your page as well.

This can help not only boost whatever you were advertising, but also turn those interested parties into interactive members of your page, community or business.

Facebook Contests and Giveaways

Contests and giveaways extremely powerful ways of getting people to interact frequently with your Facebook page. They offer incentives and help build brand trust and loyalty.

Facebook Live Events

If you don't know exactly what to give away, think of small objects you can give away frequently and bigger objects you could afford to give away less frequently.

Oftentimes this isn't too difficult for companies since we mark up our products and when we give them away for free it's less of a financial burden on us then some might think.

How to Run a Facebook Giveaway (Video)

Facebook Giveaway Strategy

Quick strategy in regards to giveaways is to require that your users’ comments or other type of interaction with a post.

If you're having a giveaway for a free beach ball, make your users like, share, and comment on the post. This will ensure that they see more future posts- making this quite an effective means of advertising.

Facebook Giveaway Power

Giveaways are extremely powerful in building a follower base. One great example of an influencer who has leveraged the power of free giveaways is Tai Lopez.

If you look at his Instagram account he has millions of followers, last I checked. In his bio he has written that he gives away free cars, free computers, cash, and other prizes. Through his free giveaways he has gained plenty of followers and a lot of brand loyalty.

Facebook Remarketing

Another tip with Facebook promotions is to always remember remarketing. Essentially you take a code from Facebook put it on your website and you can choose to Target anyone that has “seen that code" (aka been on your website)..

Many times people visit a website one time and never go back. With Facebook remarketing you can ensure that people who have visited your website will see your ads when they go on social media. This will help remind them of your service or product and oftentimes can instigate a sale.

Section 3: Social media marketing

Pinterest Marketing

Pinterest is a lot more than just a picture platform. Today it has become a powerful photo search engine that has captured a large highly engaged demographic.

Below we are going to walk you through setting up your Pinterest account (the right way) and using it to market your stuff.

Setting Up Your Pinterest

If you're new to marketing on Pinterest, make sure you first set up a business account on Pinterest so you can track the analytics built into the account.

The next step that you’ll want to do is decide what you want to post about. It is important the think about the general content that you’ll want to post about, then sub-categorize these ideas.

Create 5 Boards

Start at least five new boards and a clear vision of the type of content you want to populate each board.

A good tool to use when you're creating content, is to use secret boards to make a compilation of pins you want to pin in the future. Make sure that on those five boards, you have great cover photos to entice users to follow you.

How to Make Pinterest Board (Video)

Pinterest Cover Photo

A cover photo is important because, just like on all social media platforms, it might be the first or only thing that a user will see before making their decision to click and view your board.

So pick a beautiful photo that will represent the content you plan on posting about.

Use Canva.com to Create Cover Photos for Free

Beginning Strategy

A good strategy to begin a following, is to follow your competitors. You can also go through and follow your competitor’s followers. You already know that they are interested in that particular topic, so they are the best people to ask for a follow-back.

For example, if you are pinteresting about living in a camper-van, you could follow other camper-van pinteresters and the people that follow them, because you already know they are interested in the topic.

Cross Promote on Social Media

Make sure to also promote on other social media platforms, so that all of your followers you worked so hard for on Facebook or Instagram are also seeing your stuff on Pinterest.

If you're interested in gaining an even larger audience, try to find and build relationships with Pinterest influencers, so you can use their resources and following to promote your own.

Selling a Lifestyle, Not Just a Product

A really important tip to remember when you're creating content, is that you're trying to sell a lifestyle, not just a product.

Make sure you're posting alternative content that is more interesting to Pinterest users then simply an ad. People don't like being advertised to.

Lifestyle Board Example

For example, if you're selling Outdoor Equipment, create a board that sells a lifestyle of adventure, and then occasionally mix your product posts into the consistant posts.

Not only will it make your Outdoors product post seem less like an ad, it will advertisement credibility to your product by making it seem like it’s’ recommended by “true adventurers".

Posting Frequently, (the Easy Way)

Just like on all the other social media platforms, make sure to pin regularly and consistently. Many people use automation tools to schedule when to Pin images to guarantee this consistency. Regarding your images, make sure that they are good quality, as well as aesthetically pleasing.

Don’t clutter your posts with anything and everything about the topic though. Be careful and thoughtful with the things that you post, and try to make your boards look uniform and beautiful.

How to Automate Your Pinterest Posting (Video)

Pinterest Picture Tip (Get Good Dimensions)

Generally, vertical pins are naturally more obvious on the Pinterest platform, due to the physical layout of the site, and are therefore repinned more often. So make sure that when you are designing your photos, you use the full width of the dimensions of the page, and make it as tall as you would like.

This will make the photo seem long, and it will make it stand out on both a computer screen and handheld device.

Why Pictures With Faces Get Less Pins

Another tip in regards to photo content is to avoid posting photos containing people's faces. Images without people's faces receive, on average, 23% more repins than those with. For example, if you are posting a great picture of a well-done braid or cute outfit, make sure to angle the head or camera to avoid getting the face in the shot.

This preference could potentially be because it is easier for users to imaging the hairstyle or outfit on themselves if someone else’s face isn’t the focus of the attention.

Good vs. Bad Pins (Video)

The Color of Your Pictures Matter

Another important tip to consider is to use warm tone colors, such as oranges, Reds, or Pink's, because they are two times more likely to be repinned and then cold tone colors such as green or blue.

This is interesting because color preference changes depending on the social media platform, nonetheless, for Pinterest, stick to your warm color pallet.

Creating Pins That Go Viral (Video)

Drive Traffic to a Blog or Website

An interesting tip is to create a blog or a website to help with Pinterest traffic. This will allow you to be able to format your pictures to your liking, or to perform best on Pinterest, because some sites like Etsy have a particular shape the photos take.

Make to add “pin it" buttons to the photos on your blog or website, so people who visit your website can be free advertising.

PRO TIP: Add keywords to your description and have your name identifiable as your business or website. This makes it easier for your customers to search for you.

Use Pinterest Rich Pins

There are four different types of Rich pins:  product pins, recipe pins, article pins, and App pins.

  1. For product Rich pins, when you scroll to the bottom of the photo, there's a link to a site.
  2. On recipe Rich pins, when you scroll to the bottom of the picture, there's a list of ingredients and the link to the site.
  3. On an article Rich pin, if you scroll to the bottom it begins to show you start of the article to read, and a link to the site to read it at.
  4. And for and App pin, there's an install button at the bottom of the photo.

These Rich pins make it easier for users to be led to your website, by offering the little taste of information that is offered there, and by simplifying the steps needed to get there.

Hashtags (or lack of) on Pinterest

Another interesting thing to know is that Pinterest handles hashtags a lot differently than other social media platforms. Some people claim that having too many hashtags negatively affects your ranking.

I would advise you avoid hashtags altogether on the platform as they look tacky and decrease user engagement. If however you really feel strongly about using them, below I will give you some guidelines and tips.

Pinterest Hashtag Clickability

On Pinterest, the only clickable hashtags are in a pin’s description, the hashtags in board titles, board descriptions, account descriptions, and profile names are not clickable.

Also, on the Pinterest platform, searching for hashtags doesn’t limit the results to pins with those hashtags- pins with just the right keywords also tend to show up.

Use Hashtags for Branding & Contests

So if you use hashtags, it is best to create a unique hashtag that leads back solely to you and your company. Unlike other social media platforms, you do not want to hashtag very generic hashtags or even very popular ones.

Another unique tip is to do a campaign or contest to increase brand recognition and hashtag use for your invented hashtag.

Twitter Marketing

Twitter is a unique advertising (and social media) platform because it focuses on a high volume of fresh content. With Twitter it is quite common for users to post and tweet 5-10 times a day.

Below we are going to walk you through setting up your Twitter account (the right way) and using it to send links and promote your awesome stuff.

Twitter Account Set Up

The first thing to know when beginning with Twitter marketing is how to setup your Twitter account effectively:

1. Create a Custom Logo

The first thing you want to focus on is your profile picture (or in the company's case your logo). Make sure you have a custom logo that is uniform across all your other social media accounts.

3. Choose Your Twitter Handle

Next you'll want to create your Twitter handle a Twitter handle is essentially the username that people will be following and interacting with when it comes to your business. Make sure to use a Twitter handle that is simple and easy to remember. Avoid numbers and keep it simple. If your preferred Twitter handle is already taken by another account try something similar

Pro Tip: Use underscores between the words if the regular name is taken.

4. Create a Twitter Banner

Next write your bio with some descriptive things that your business does. Include ways it can help others and services it offers.

Essentially give your followers and idea of the type of content you'll be posting and the solutions you offer.

Creating Twitter Content

Most tweets should be tweeting at people and should be focused on having good quality conversations on Twitter. Twitter, unlike many other social platforms, is used for quick engaging comments.

Unlike Instagram, Facebook and Tumblr, tweets have a very short life expectancy. That means users are expected to tweet many times a day and to share the same articles, thoughts, or products multiple times a day as well.

What to Tweet about

Primarily, you should be tweeting quality content information and having conversations on Twitter.

The social media platform is heavily rich in links and text, so using pictures can help your posts pop up. Videos are also accepted on Twitter and are a great source of content- especially gifs or meme videos.

Maximum Tweet Length

The maximum length of a twitter tweet was increased to 280 characters. One helpful tip when creating your Twitter tweets is to use less than the maximum tweet character length.

Using less than the maximum character count allows your followers to retweet your tweets and add their own personalized thoughts without going over the character limit.

If You Use More Than 280 Characters...

Twitter Account Lists

One great way to compile a group of all of the great sources that you follow on Twitter is by making Twitter lists. You can have lists of followers you interact with frequently, lists of new sites, and even lists of great influencers.

You can use these lists as your go-to sources for great content and media to push out to your followers.

Twitter Posts for Everyone

One Twitter tip is to add a “." or some text in public posts before the “@" symbol, even if you are tweeting it to someone specific. If you start a conversation with the @ symbol, Twitter will think that it is a private conversation and not show it to all of your followers.

How to Market Through Your Twitter Account

When thinking of ways to market content on Twitter, remember that Twitter content has a very short life expectancy. Many different audiences will be seeing your tweets at many different times of the day. This means that it is totally acceptable to post a very important piece of content (or article) up to three times a day.

Even after the initial three times content has been posted, feel free to tweet it a few times during the following week. Each time you retweet it, it is almost guarantee that it will see a new audience.

Twitter Self Promotion

Rule of Thumb

When promoting your products and services on Twitter, make sure that those tweets are not the key focus at everything you do. Fill most of your feed with useful information and good conversations and then occasionally slip in self promotions.

Hiermee wordt uw account natuurlijk weergegeven en neemt uw omzet toe.
