Het was de zomer van 2010, begin juli om precies te zijn.

Het was bijna een jaar geleden dat ik mijn eerste site startte, TrainBaseball.com, waar ik probeerde informatieproducten (e-boeken, video's, enz.) Te verkopen die baseballspelers zouden leren hoe ze hun spel kunnen verbeteren.

Nog indrukwekkender was dat ik net afgestudeerd was, een zielzuigende bureaubaan had geland en nog in de kelder van mijn ouders woonde (ik probeerde in oktober te sparen voor mijn aanstaande bruiloft).

I had almost decided to stop working on my site, stop wasting time on tactics that were obviously not getting me any results. I had no traffic coming to my site, no email list or subscribers reading my blog posts, and certainly no one had decided to buy any of my products.

And then it happened.

I decided as a last-ditch effort I would start trying to use my fan page in an entirely different way from what I saw most people doing at the time...and that's when the magic happened.

And just under 8 weeks later, here's what happened.

My fan page had gone from 46 to 10,842 fans in those 8 weeks.

The funny thing was, it wasn't that hard.

I had no idea what I was doing when it came to marketing on facebook, and I sure didn't listen to any gurus teaching me what to do. The truth is, no one really knew how to make facebook work before I figured it out.

I started testing out different strategies for growing my page. I was posting all different types of content at all different times of the day. I tried over 100 different strategies, and then...I figured it out.

Almost instantly this seemingly dead fan page, with no comments, no likes, and no shares...came to life.

People were sharing my posts and videos with their friends, bringing me new fans faster than I could have ever imagined...

And because of the way I setup my page, I was converting over 53% of my new fans into email subscribers (which I learned later, is where the money is made).[8 weeks later...]

Well, you might be wondering:

"But what about your sales? Did anyone actually buy your stuff after becoming a fan?"

Good question.

The short answer. Yep.

This little fan page system led to not only me making my first dollar online, but my first $1,000 month.

And it kept growing from there.

But enough about me.

This isn't about me, I just wanted you to hear my story so you can see what this can do for you. For your business. For you family. That's what's important.

Yes, this story is from way back in 2010.

And yes, things have changed a lot since then.

Facebook has changed their algorithms, their advertising policies, their rules about what can and cannot be posted on fan pages. And the list goes on and on...

So a lot of what I did back then, just flat out won't work today. #badnews

Which is why I've made so many tweaks to the way I do things on facebook since then. Most of which are COMPLETELY different from what every other wanna-be facebook marketer is telling you to do.

The truth is, other people teaching this stuff never really did it on their own. They jumped right in, and their first facebook marketing "success" was building a fan page about how to get fans. (lame)

I had to do it in a tiny little niche: baseball.

Just a tad tougher (and more legit) if you ask me.

Hoe dan ook, zoals ik al zei, de dingen zijn veel ... veel anders tegenwoordig als het gaat om het bouwen van een enorme fanpage van enthousiaste fans.

Maar het goede nieuws is dat het nog steeds gemakkelijk (eigenlijk, gemakkelijker) is om het te doen.

En ik heb dit proces aan meer dan 45.000 mensen zoals jij geleerd. Ik zal later een aantal van hun verhalen met je delen.
